Donate to GOERT
Private donations from you and others contribute to work that would not otherwise be possible. Any donation you’d like to make is appreciated and will be used effectively to protect and restore Garry oak ecosystems. To enquire about making a donation, please contact us at donate@goert.ca.
Thank you!
We extend gratitude for our many previous private donations, which supported our Garry oak ecosystems recovery work in several ways:
- Initiated the first banding project of coastal vesper sparrows (Endangered), allowing the researchers to define population size and territories
- Supported the first year of the Bring Back the Bluebirds project
- Paid for a mycological survey at Mill Hill Regional Park for 2006–2007, to complement previous surveys undertaken there
- Contributed to printing The Garry Oak Gardener’s Handbook
- Helped with surveys of species at risk at Trial Islands Ecological Reserve
- Helped improve the GOERT website to better serve the needs of our working groups, the public, researchers and people involved in Garry oak restoration
- Contributed to the establishment of a covenant at Camas Hill in Metchosin
- Contributed funds for a proposed yellow montane violet (Threatened) inventory on provincial crown lands adjacent to the Mt. Tuam Ecological Reserve
- Contributed to species at risk surveys at the Somenos Garry Oak Protected Area
- Helped us contact and work with landholders (private and corporate) who have species at risk on their land
- Helped us provide species at risk workshops to local government staff
- Helped fund us to meet and correspond with developers and local governments on tree protection bylaws, development proposals, Official Community Plans, and power transmission line and road developments, providing information on how to protect Garry oak habitat and species at risk
