Show your support for our local ecosystems by becoming a member of the GOERT Society. Your membership demonstrates community support for the conservation work that we do.

To join the Garry Oak Ecosystems Recovery Team Society:

  • Make a donation online through PayPal of $30 or more for individual/family, $25 or more for senior/student, and check the membership box;
  • Or email us at membership@goert.ca

With your membership you can expect to receive:

  • An annual Newsletter emailed directly to you
  • Emails with information about upcoming events, and current news
  • Invitations to our fundraising events and our annual Colloquium
  • A vote at the Annual General Meeting

Your membership supports:

  • A “state of the art” website with information on the natural history of Garry Oak ecosystems and how to conserve and protect them. Profiles current projects, advertises events and activities
  • An annual research colloquium that profiles the latest research on the ecology and conservation of Garry Oak ecosystems
  • Research and Education on how to restore, garden and propagate Garry oak ecosystems and native plants and how to remove invasive species
  • Stewardship projects to restore populations of endangered Garry oak meadow wildflowers and western bluebirds
  • Projects such as: Back to our Roots, Bring back the Bluebirds, Trial Island Recovery Project and the Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterfly Recovery Project
  • Partnerships with dozens of agencies and individuals. Our members and partners include First Nations, academic institutions, land trusts, land managers, scientists, naturalists, and others
  • Public education and awareness by organizing a series of public presentations by experts on Garry Oak Ecosystems and several field trips to Garry Oak sites where active restoration and conservation is occurring
  • An annual newsletter filled with news of GOERTs’ activities, as well as periodic emails keeping the membership informed about any upcoming events or announcements

GOERT became incorporated in BC as a non-profit society in August 2007 (Charity Number 84300 7816 RR0001). The Recovery Team has existed since 1999.
