UPDATE – FEBRUARY 2016

  • The Back to Our Roots (BTOR) project is off to a great start. The first landowners signed up in October 2015, and several more have joined since then.
  • Our native plant experts (Louise Goulet, Pat Johnston, and Kristen Miskelly) visited the participants’ properties before the rainy winter weather settled in. They provided native plant gardening advice and followed up with planting plans or lists of appropriate indigenous species for the specific growing conditions at each site.
  • Over the fall and winter the project participants have been busy planning, weeding and preparing their yards for planting. Some of them have already put native plants in the ground! We look forward to seeing the beautiful results of their work in the coming months.
  • Like the BTOR gardens, we hope that the project continues to grow and flourish, so we are seeking funding from Environment Canada and other potential supporters.
