This RIG works on protection and recovery of vertebrates at risk. Tasks include completing assessments and initial planning, followed by initiating action toward sustaining and expanding populations of plants at risk that are designated Endangered, Threatened, or of management concern.

Initiatives to date include the western bluebird nestbox program, contributions to the field manual titled Species at Risk in Garry Oak and Associated Ecosystems in British Columbia, along with longer stewardship accounts of Lewis’s woodpecker, coastal vesper sparrow, western meadowlark, and western bluebird.
