Pat has volunteered with GOERT in various capacities since 2002 and was recently given an Acorn Award for her outstanding contributions. She is a member of the Recovery Team, the Invasive Species Steering Committee and the Native Plant Propagation Steering Committee. Matt provides consultation and restoration services to public and private sector clients for rare plant and ecosystem conservation and has prepared status reports and recovery strategies for 17 rare plant species. He serves as the BC representative on the rare plants working group of the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada, and serves as vice chair of the Oak Bay Parks and Recreation Commission and chair of its Finance Committee.

Jan is a Landscape Ecologist with Environment Canada, Canadian Wildlife Service. Before CWS, she worked as an ecologist at the Conservation Data Centre for 9 years, and has been involved in mapping sensitive ecosystems, including Garry oak and associated ecosystems, for the past 15 years. Jan works closely with local governments as well as federal, provincial, regional, and non-government organizations to provide scientific support to facilitate and encourage sustainable, ecosystem-based land use decisions. She chairs the GOERT Conservation Planning and Site Protection RIG. See more…

Carolyn is an Environmental Education Officer with the District of Saanich. Her work there has included chairing and coordinating the Garry Oak Restoration Project (GORP) for most of its ten years and coordinating and co-authoring the educator's guide for Garry oak ecosystems, published in 2006. She has served on the GOERT Restoration and Management RIG since 2008. Her Diploma in the Restoration of Natural Systems from the University of Victoria is near completion. Carolyn shares one board position with her colleague Adriane Pollard.

Adriane has been the Manager of Environmental Services at the District of Saanich for about 10 years. Prior to that, she was a consulting ecologist for 10 years. She focused on mitigating the impacts of development and protecting ecologically sensitive areas. She is a member of the Planning Institute and recently completed a Masters in Environmental Management. She has been a member of GOERT since the time of its inception and served as chair of the Conservation Planning and Site rotection RIG for a few years. Adriane shares one board position with her colleague Carolyn MacDonald.

Jennifer is a Senior Conservation Planning Biologist with the BC Ministry of Environment. She is a wildlife ecologist with expertise in the interface of forest and wildlife management, including endangered species research. As the senior ecosystems planning biologist for the provincial government, Jennifer oversees the designation of special management areas for a number of wildlife species.

Brian Reader graduated with a Master’s degree in Natural Resources Management in 1984 and has worked for the Parks Canada Agency for the past eighteen years. He has served as the Chair of the Garry Oak Ecosystems Recovery Team for the past six years and currently works for Parks Canada as a Species at Risk Ecologist. Brian maintains an active role in restoration and species at risk recovery through various Garry oak ecosystem field projects and is a Director of the Invasive Plant Council of British Columbia. Shyanne was the RIG Coordinator with GOERT for three years before moving into the Program Manager position in December 2008. She oversees program and recovery planning, development, finances and fundraising. An ecologist with a background in species at risk inventory, recovery planning and field botany, Shyanne completed her M.Sc. on historical stand dynamics in Garry oak ecosystems in 2007. See more…
